STEAM into the Weekend at IRL Science Fest!

The Indian River Lagoon Science Festival returns for its ninth year on Saturday, October 26 from 10 am to 3 pm at Veteran’s Memorial Park, part of the River Walk Center in downtown Fort Pierce! This free day of discovery promises to be a blast for the whole family with dozens of hands-on and minds-on activities exploring the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, also known as “STEAM”.

This event showcases important role that science plays in our daily lives… and how fun it can be… as well as the many STEAM-themed resources and organizations throughout our region. Join over 50 exhibitors from across the Treasure Coast to spend the day in the life of a scientist and learn more about the amazing work happening right in our hometown. From exploring a crime scene investigation van and a dolphin rescue ambulance, to piloting underwater vehicles and building catapults, and even meeting local wildlife, from tiny bugs to reptiles, and more!

While you’re there, be sure to check out the stage show to catch explosive science acts, enter to win raffle prizes, and enjoy waterfront views of the beautiful Indian River Lagoon. A variety of food trucks will also be on-site to satisfy the hunger of festival-goers and free parking will be available in the Downtown Fort Pierce Parking Garage with complimentary trolley transport to the festival site.

Established in 2014, the Indian River Lagoon Science Festival continues to celebrate science in an educational and entertaining way, with a goal of making it more accessible to our community and inspiring the next generation of STEAM professionals. The festival planning committee is made up entirely of volunteer organizers and is a part of the Science Festival Alliance.

This year’s event is made possible through funding from the Smithsonian Marine Station, Bill and Clare Bohnett, and FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, as well as the generous support of St. Lucie County, City of Fort Pierce, Mad Science of Palm Beach, and the Treasure Coast Almanac.
